Red 'hurricane' lamp
“I purchased this paraffin lamp and used it in the 1960s, on and off throughout the years. I kept it just in case of emergencies. I used it not only for blackouts and when the electricity would shut down, but also for energy and warming up the house with the paraffin heater.
I would go to the petrol station to buy paraffin and needed a wick inside of the lamp to light it up. Back in the days someone would also come along and sell paraffin at your house. Paraffin man, coalman and milk man would also come with potatoes, juice, and sugar. Those were the hard days, but good days.”
