Jamdani, a light purple traditional saree made in Dhaka, Bangladesh
"The technique of woven muslin cotton with gold threaded motifs came to be known as Jamdani during the Mughal Empire (1600s). The jamdani to me is about art and heritage. During the 1960s, sarees were not easily available here in North London. My mother would buy 6 yards of material from John Lewis to make them or buy her silk sarees from salespeople returning from India. This saree was worn by my mum for special occasions."
