The Breton Cartouche was installed by Eliab Breton when he became owner of Forty Hall in 1740. The central area has the coat of arms of Eliab Breton surrounding the coat of arms of his wife Elizabeth Wolstenholme. This cartouche was placed above the east door until 2004 when it was taken down and restored by Carvers and Guilders in London.
